How Can I Connect to an SHV Connector?
Avtech models AVR-8A-B, AVRH-1-B, AVRH-2-B, and AVRH-3-B are normally equipped with
SHV-type output connectors. The SHV-type is a specialized, high-voltage type of connector. If you need to connect
to a different type of cable, several approaches are available:
- Use the Kings Electronics 1705-2 adapter. One end of this adapter is an SHV plug, and the other end must be
crimped to an RG58-type coaxial cable. This connector is available from Newark (Newark stock number 46F6038). The Pasternack parts PE4316 and PE4194 are similar.
- To convert to a BNC-type output, use an SHV-to-MHV adapter, and then an MHV-to-BNC adapter, connected in
series. Pasternack types PE9265 (SHV PLUG to MHV FEMALE) and PE9297 (MHV
MALE to BNC FEMALE) may be appropriate.
- Pasternack may be able to make an RG58C/U cable with an SHV plug on one end and a BNC female connector on the other end. Contact sales@pasternack.com.
In all cases, the user will need to confirm that the connectors and adapters used can handle the voltages that
the instrument will producing.
