VI. What ever happened to ....
I'm not 100% sure about all of these changes, so please feel free to correct me.
- TRW - The Power Semiconductor product line was aquired by Optek. The RF Division was acquired by Motorola.
- Optek - Optek now only sells optoelectronics devices, it's other semiconductor operations were transferred to Microsemi.
- GE Semiconductors - purchased by Harris.
- Unitrode Semiconductor Products Division - Purchased by Microsemi. in 1992, now known as Microsemi - Watertown Division. (Unitrode still exists as a manufacturer of linear IC's, especially power supply, motor control, and communications circuits.)
- Siemens zener diode division - Purchased by Microsemi.
- Coors Components - Purchased by Microsemi.
- Varo Quality Semiconductor - Purchased by Microsemi.
- Microsemi also purchased parts of Texas Instruments, Hamilton Avnet, and Rockwell.
- General Semiconductor Industries was purchased by General Instrument in 1992.
- Mullard was purchased by Philips in the 1960s.
- Loral Microwave FSI / Semiconductor Division made very nice exotic diodes, but they are gone, gone, gone.
Loral sold this division to Microsemi.
